Origination Analysis & Strategic Planning
The Strategic Edge
In addition to our grain fundamentals publications,
we provide strategic planning services to help our clients with
capital planning, major investments, mergers and acquisitions.
The strategic service uses a geographic information system to
map grain flows and measure the economics of grain origination.
The process we use in this analysis, Commodity Market Zone Analysis
(CMZA), was developed at the NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
PRX was also involved with Stennis in the development of precision
agriculture and crop condition monitoring. Today precision agriculture
is in widespread use and has dramatically changed the way a producer
manages land and yield. In the same sense CMZA lets agri-business
entities manage and analyze the cost of grain origination and
then focus on margin. Put simply, PRX Geographic™ provides
analysis of commodity transportation networks to agriculture decision
makers on critical capital projects.

A critical
component of the ProExporter Network, PRX Geographic
provides a monthly "encyclopedia" of grain fundamentals.
Grain Fundamentals Publications
Manage Complexity
The ProExporter system is designed for grain merchandisers
and grain transportation specialists—interested in the details
of US grain movement and what drives it. The PRX system concentrates
on corn, soybeans, and wheat using proprietary, satellite-based
software to study changes in crop production every year, changes
in location of demand, and thus how the forces of supply and demand
will act on each other to drive changes in commodity price and
transportation rates. The PRX system has also shown that its forecasted
flows are critical indicators of cash price differentials across
the cornbelt—playing a powerful role in local carryout-to-use
ratios, cash basis, and rail rate structures.
The PRX CD, published about once a month, is over
a thousand pages of linked tables, graphs, and charts provided
in Adobe Acrobat files and PowerPoint presentations. Our purpose
is to provide clients with a rich and detailed information base
to understand past, present, and future basis levels. This service
is truly unique in its scope, timeliness, and utility.

Feasibility Studies
The Power to Decide
Feasibility Studies are conducted to evaluate a
project's financial potential. The ultimate goal of the study
is a final “go/no go” recommendation to the project
sponsor. Included in the study is a review of the availability
and cost of raw materials and other inputs, detailed analysis
of the costs of production as well as the administrative and overhead
components, and access to markets and prices for finished products
and outputs. The study deliverables include a set of pro forma
financial statements which summarize the financial impacts on
the project over both short and long term planning horizons. Also
included in the study is an analysis of the key driver sensitivities
and potential de-railers of the project.
